This Privacy Policy explains what the Project: Constellations Discord bot (the “Bot”) collects, why, and your choices. It is written in plain language and covers the Bot only.
1. Overview & Scope
This policy applies to the Project: Constellations Discord bot and the account-linking it provides. It does not cover the Starfield game, the Project: Constellations mod itself, the Discord app, Patreon, or any other third-party service.
2. Data We Collect
The Bot is built with least-privilege permissions and collects only what it needs to work:
- Discord identifiers — your Discord user ID and username, and the server (guild), channel, and role IDs the Bot operates on.
- Roles & membership — the roles relevant to supporter perks, and whether you are a member of the server.
- Command inputs — the options and text you provide when you run a Bot command (for example, a target user, role, or channel, or text you submit in a bug-report prompt).
- Patreon linkage (only if you connect Patreon) — your Patreon user ID and current pledge tier, used to grant the matching supporter role.
The Bot does not enable Discord’s “Message Content” intent. It does not read, log, or store the content of your ordinary messages in a server — only the inputs you deliberately send to the Bot through its commands.
3. How We Use It
We use the data above only to operate the Bot:
- Assign, verify, and reconcile supporter roles from your Patreon tier;
- Respond to your commands and post announcements or release notes you’ve configured;
- Prevent abuse and keep the service reliable.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
4. Storage, Retention & Security
The Bot runs on Render. It stores its per-server configuration inside Discord itself (in channel topics and embed footers), so it keeps no separate database of its own. Account-link records — which Discord account is linked to which in-game account — are held by the Project: Constellations master service, the mod’s own backend. We apply reasonable measures to protect this data, though no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.
We keep your data only while you use the Bot or remain in a server where it operates. It is deleted when you leave the server, remove the Bot, or ask us to delete it (see Your Rights).
5. Third-Party Sub-Processors
The Bot relies on the following third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Discord — the platform the Bot runs on (Discord API).
- Patreon — used only if you link your Patreon account.
- Render — hosting/compute for the Bot process.
The Project: Constellations master service (which holds account-link records) is the mod team’s own first-party backend, not a third-party sub-processor.
6. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You can ask us what data we hold about you and request its deletion at any time. To do so, contact us at tylerjohnwesley@gmail.com or in our Discord server. We aim to respond within 30 days. Removing the Bot or leaving the server also clears the data tied to your membership.
7. Children
The Bot is not directed to anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. This aligns with Discord’s minimum age requirement. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will remove it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates are posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and material changes will be announced in the Project: Constellations Discord.
